IGNOU Regional Centre, Khanna came into existence on 9th April 2001 after the bifurcation of Regional Centre, Karnal. This Regional Centre had its jurisdiction over the entire state of Punjab and Union Territory. In the year 2009, RC was further bifurcated and a new Regional Centre Chandigarh was established. The districts of Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Roopnagar, Mohali and Union Territory of Chandigarh were shifted to RC, Chandigarh. Having started with only 12 Learner Support Centres, it is now has 37 Learner Support Centres running successfully under its jurisdiction area with programmes from the wide spectrum of Schools of Computer & Information Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Education, Continuing Education, Management Studies, Agriculture, Sciences and Health Sciences.
Regional Centre, Khanna is providing education to the entire state of Punjab through its learner support centres. There are about 80 programmes activated under this Regional Centre.
